Initially this vintage seemed extraordinary and while it remains very good, it may not have the lifespan it was expected to have. The color is a very intense and lively garnet, while the aromas are wrapping and slightly ethereal in a broad and complex bouquet. There are notes of wild strawberry and cassis, followed by raspberry, a hint of black cherry and then scents of tobacco, cinnamon, accents of black pepper and vanilla. The mouthfeel is very detailed with velvety tannins which define the saline/acidic hardness without making it excessive, while the softness has not been totally integrated. As always, the finish is very long. All things considered a great wine, even if not immense as was thought when it came out.
