Although rather closed early in life, this vintage has now begun to open and is becoming one of the best Chambertin in recent history. The wine has an intense and even concentrated garnet color with ruby-violet accents. The bouquet is dominated by notes of wild berries preserved under spirits along with those of cassis and fresh wild strawberry and youthful scents of tobacco and sweet vanilla. The mouthfeel is bold, rich and even tannic, as well as salty and warm, and yet everything has still not come together as it climbs to a long and persistent finish. This is still young with the possibility of evolving for decades.
