During a preview sampling last year, I threatened to kill the winery’s head if he bottled the wine too soon. Aside from being kicked by managing editor, I was reassured, amid the laughter of all those present, that this would not be the case. This is a great wine, classic in its color and aromas, which are complex and still young. There are some slightly greenish nuances like a fruit frost, in a bouquet that has floral scents that range from iris to carnation to gorse with notes of saffron, a touch of mint and a lovely scent of face powder, all very persistent. The mouthfeel has a wonderful acidity which in no way hinders the progression and gives freshness to the second stage. The finish is both elegant and bold at the same time, with an excellent persistence and a return of more red floral notes.
