A blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from the Maison’s own vineyards in Grand and Premier Cru villages that was disgorged November 21, 2014. On the bottle’s back label is written: “a wine that can stand the test of time”. Thanks to fermenting and initially aging in wood and then aging long on the lees in bottles sealed with a real cork, this wine expresses the Bollinger style but also has a distinct and lively freshness. In the glass it has a light, golden color with an incessant effervescence that unleashes citrus sensations of tangerine and grapefruit that immediately evolve into notes of dried fruit, barley bread and linden honey. The mouthfeel is taut and lean, full of freshness and energy and yet it hints at a complexity of nuances even though it is young with sharp and distinct mentholated notes of anise and lime and slightly candied citron peel. A Champagne not to be missed now and that promises to be exceptional in 20 years.
