This is made only with Ruggine, an indigenous grape native to the area of Modena, which had all but disappeared and is grown on pergola Romagnola trellises. The grapes are picked by hand when there are a little overripe and they macerate in barriques, 50% of which are new wood, siting 11 months on the lees with occasional paddling to then age eight months in the bottle. The wine has a distinct personality and a straw-yellow color with green reflections. The aroma has a nice intensity and recalls Williams pear and exotic fruit with nuances of green tea along with those of gorse and a touch of sweet spice, not only vanilla but also cinnamon. The mouthfeel is rich and saline, fresh and balanced with a finish that is quite soft between being fruity and spicy.
