A blend of Nero d’Avola, Nerello Mascalese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes that raisinate before pressing for four weeks (hence its name since ‘ammasso’ is Sicilian for an ancient mashing technique).  The wine ages in barriques for some ten months and has a dark, impenetrable color with purple reflections. The aroma is intense and fruity with scents of prune, fox grapes and candied fruits along with toasted notes to then close with a dash of marzipan and almond. The mouthfeel is full, rich and opulent and becomes sensual thanks to its freshness and velvety tannins. The finish is very fresh. An ‘Amarone’ from the South.
