Alea Ludendo 2011

Fattoria delle Ripalte is situated in the estate of the same name and is today a luxury resort that even Napoleon would have appreciated. It is owned by Pier Mario Meletti Cavallari and it is here in his winery, designed by architect Tobia Scarpa, that he makes his Aleatico. Alea Ludendo means tossing the dice, tempting fate.
The wine opens with a floral bouquet of red roses and fruity prune notes. It then narrows down with balsamic and Mediterranean nuances, light vegetal notes and scents of carob and rhubarb, barley candy and humus. The mouthfeel has a nice freshness and the sweetness of brown sugar, a potpourri of flowers and black cherry.
