La Taverna dei Pescatori

A stone’s throw from the beach in Fano, La Taverna dei Pescatori of Filippo Ravaglia, nicknamed Felix, is a restaurant that no one who loves sea food should miss.
In Fano, in a quiet square next to the canal leading to the harbor, less that 100m from the beach, is this historic tavern run for over 20 years by Felix (Filippo Ravagli). The fish is strictly local catch and naturally dominates the menu. Choosing from the menu or taking the advice of Felix, you will find seasonal fish that is rigorously fresh catch and you can opt for classic Fano dishes, those with the ancient and strong flavors of yesteryear, or dare to try more modern dishes or reinterpreted ones. In any case, the shellfish and fish of all varieties are all cooked to perfection. Try some of the rigorously traditional dishes: Brodetto alla Fanese, the splendid and fragrant “rustita de pesc” (a mixed grill of breaded fish with garlic and parsley), bomboletti col finocchietto, baci or murici with red sauce, ‘poor’ oily fish and so on.
The food is so good that it could resuscitate the dead and, along with Felix’s exuberant personality, lets you enjoy a few hours in peace, thanks also by selecting something from the lovely wine list, which is mostly focused on local producers.
In good weather you can eat outside but even the inside rooms are more than inviting. At the end of the evening, a stiff Moretta alla Fanese spiked coffee and a very reasonable bill will send you off from with a desire to return to this authentic haven that has a special place in my heart.Taverna dei Pescatori
