A medieval castle in Capriva del Friuli, preserved and cared for in every detail, with three resorts, three restaurants, a golf course and a wellness center.

Castello di Spessa, located in Friuli in the heart of the Collio, is a spectacular Golf Camp Wine Resort: with the medieval castle, surrounded by an 18-hole golf course, 3 gourmand restaurants, 3 resorts immersed in the vineyards and a wellness centre focused on wine therapy. 

The Pali family has continued since 1987 to renovate and preserve the structure and the rooms of the castle in the best possible way, taking care of every single detail with love. The ancient kitchen, intimate and welcoming, impresses with the old ovens where bread and cakes were cooked. Now it is used to serve spectacular breakfasts, which satisfy the most demanding palates. 

There are three restaurants: La Tavernetta restaurant, Il Gusto di Casanova bistro and Hosteria del Castello. In the first one, in a fine and elegant rural atmosphere, with soft lighting and an exquisitely orchestrated mise en place, Chef Antonino Venica offers his loving take on Friulian cuisine with a modern twist. A symphony of flavours and small gestures that define the unique style of La Tavernetta.

Il Gusto di Casanova bistro is located in a frescoed room at the entrance of the Castle, with the large garden and its twelve indoor seats. It is not meant to be a restaurant but a place suspended in time, capable of bringing back forgotten emotions and sensations, creating the perfect atmosphere for give value to your relationships, during a delicious break, a tasty snack, an appetizing aperitif.

Immersed in the tranquillity of the golf course, the Hosteria del Castello welcomes foodies and wine lovers in an informal, easy atmosphere, ideal for quick lunches and refreshments. In summer, enjoy dining al-fresco on the terrace overlooking golf course.

The room adjoining the castle church has an imposing oversized English pool table from 1800s. The hunting room was reserved for moments of conviviality between men, who relaxed at the end of the day with a good brandy. Even today, guests can sip the fine brandy.

Vinum will be the wellness area of the Resort, dedicated to wine therapy. The beneficial properties of the active ingredients of the grapes and the wine will be the basis of the treatments and cosmetics of the center.

The cellars are situated on two floors: the first dates back to the medieval period; the second is obtained from a military bunker built in 1939 and has a constant temperature of 14°C, ideal for wine ageing. Since 1987, the Pali family, current owner, has perpetuated the winemaking and hospitality tradition of the place.
