Happy Ferragosto from DoctorWine

So far 2020 has been a very bad year. Let’s hope the second half will bring a little serenity for us all.

It’s time again for our annual best wishes for the Ferragosto holiday. This middle week in August is the only one in which we take a break in our daily presence, while for the rest of the year we are always there for you, every day publishing an article or more on our beloved world of wine (and food).

But while in mid-August we stop publishing this is not to enjoy a (much-deserved) break but rather to enter into the final rush to close our Essential Guide to Italia Wines, for which there is a ruthless countdown dictated by the date of its presentation, which will be in Milan, October 3 and 4 (at the Hotel Principe di Savoia) and in Rome on October 10 (Officine Farneto).

Does it really take that long to be published, you may ask? The answer is yes, considering that aside from the Italian edition we work at the same time on the English and German editions. Compiling three guides at the same time is no easy feat.

And that’s not all. There is another guide in the works and that will make its debut this year. It will be a guide to Eating and Sleeping Amid the Vineyards by DoctorWine. This guide will allow wine lovers to organize a holiday sleeping and/or eating at our favorite wine estates.

We wish everyone a happy holiday, knowing well that this year is a particular one and that many of you will not be able to take a vacation, except for a couple of days or so. The three months of lockdown weighed heavy on all of us and trips abroad – given the uncertainty worldwide – are impossible to plan. And so we add our best wishes for a happy holiday to spend in our much-loved and very beautiful Italy, to lend a helping hand to those who, running a hotel, restaurant or bar, in this period have been licking their wounds and are not in a good way.
