With Drei Donà, Fattoria Nicolucci and Tenuta Santini we present three Romagna Sangiovese 2018 of good drinkability and great price.

Romagna is one of the Italian paradises for Sangiovese, which here takes on distinctive characteristics especially in the hilly areas south of the Via Emilia. We would like to suggest you three Romagna Sangiovese wines which are worth tasting because of their pleasant taste and the excellent quality/price ratio. They are produced by wineries located in different areas: Drei Donà, on the ancient hills between the city of Forlì, Castrocaro and Predappio; Fattoria Nicolucci, in the heart of the territory of Predappio alta, and Tenuta Santini, on the hills of Rimini.
 
Drei Donà is a winery deeply rooted in the territory, it is a reference not only for wine lovers, but also for other producers who see in it a model and that, decades ago, paved the way to Romagna cru by launching Pruno, Romagna Sangiovese Superiore Riserva, from the vineyard having the same name. In fact, the winery is based on futuristic canons with vineyards that already in the early 1980's were at high density and a care in the cellar worthy of a Bordeaux château. All this in order to exalt the Sangiovese grape. 
 
At Fattoria Nicolucci we are at the third generation of winemakers and Alessandro Nicolucci has made the most of these experiences while maintaining a very classic style in the wines without concessions to easy and winking modernisms. Austere wines then, but with very solid foundations of technical knowledge and of a refined territory, the high Predappio, which shows power and finesse without having the hardness of the low lands of the area. The flagship wine of the company, the Romagna Sangiovese Superiore Predappio Vigna del Generale Riserva, is at the top of the regional production.
 
Twenty-two hectares of vineyard divided into four farm cru, the vineyards of Beato Enrico, Fra' Lorenzo, del Sole and Marcubel. Then the agritourism and Sandro Santini's rampant passion. These are the ingredients that make Tenuta Santini one of the reference points for wine-growing in the area. We are in Passano di Coriano, on the hills overlooking Rimini and its endless beaches, and here Sangiovese is a serious thing. The most representative wine of the winery is Beato Enrico, Romagna Sangiovese Superiore, together with the reserve Cornelianum.

Romagna Sangiovese Predappio Notturno 2018 Drei Donà

100% Sangiovese grapes. Matures 8 months in second passage tonneaux. Compact and dark ruby red color. Very neat and pleasant aromas of morello cherries, blackberries and cherries. Balanced taste, blended-in tannins and articulated progression. Great, savory and persistent finish.


Romagna Sangiovese Superiore Tre Rocche 2018 Fattoria Nicolucci

100% Sangiovese grapes. Short passage in barrels. Intense ruby red color. Simple fruity aromas and intense fresh notes of cherries. Attractive taste, smooth tannins and intriguing drinkability due to the smooth tannins and pleasant savory notes. Nice and juicy finish. 


Romagna Sangiovese Superiore Beato Enrico 2018 Tenuta Santini

92/100 - € 9

100% Sangiovese grapes. Stainless steel for 10 months. Intense and lively ruby red color. Fragrant, fruity and very typical aromas of black cherries and wildflowers. Warn and tense, savory and agile taste, good body and quite long persistence.
