Sauvignon is a grape variety that you either love or hate, given its strong aromas that are so distinctive. For lovers of the variety, we offer two from different origins, one from Trentino (Vette by San Leonardo) and one from Romagna (Vie by San Patrignano).

If you have nothing against the scents of boxwood, nettle, mint, passion fruit or perhaps tomato leaf or yellow bell pepper, all encapsulated in a wine, then Sauvignon is for you. The identity character of this grape variety is so pronounced that it is impossible not to recognize it. Of course, there are then endless nuances that make it possible to find the Sauvignon for our tastes, from the extreme characteristics of the intense, penetrating and extremely vertical New Zealand ones to the gentler and creamier French ones, thanks in part to wood fermentations and aging on lees.

Today we bring you two that may look similar on paper, but then manage to reflect their territory, with the differences due to altitudes and soils.

The first is Vette di San Leonardo, produced on the estate of Marquis Carlo and Anselmo Guerrieri Gonzaga. We are in Trentino, in Borghetto d'Avio, in the Campi Sarni area of Vallagarina, a unique territory with mountains towering above the hills and nearby Lake Garda mitigating the cold, which ensures a cool, dry microclimate. It is from the imposing peaks that frame the vineyards from which it originates that this wine gets its name.

The second is a wine from Romagna, Vie, which is produced in the Community of San Patrignano. Founded by Vincenzo Muccioli in 1978 and carried on by his son, this supportive community is the largest organization in the world for the rehabilitation of drug addicts who, among their many activities, also engage in wine production, with truly excellent results (the wine consultancy is by Luca D'Attoma). San Patrignano's vineyards are located in the hills of Rimini, a few kilometers from the Adriatic Sea and Mount Titano. Sea and mountain provide high temperature changes and brightness, as well as salinity, while the clay soils give structure.
