Olive Autunno

In the surroundings of Greve in Chianti, an area with a very high wine density, the oil production of Castel Ruggero Pellegrini and Giacomo Grassi stands out.

Castel Ruggero, not distant from the center of Florence, has an ancient and complex story with many twists and turns. The brothers Pellegrini have tried to reconstruct the past events connected with the area and the castle, currently partly owned by their family.

The farm, which has also a vineyard and offers accommodation, mainly produces extra virgin olive oil from a 16-hectare olive grove with 3,295 trees with an average oil production per year of about 26 hectoliters.

Giacomo Grassi’s farm is a young farm, run besides the family estate, in the ancient village Case di Dudda, in the middle of the hills of Chianti. It is a 6-hectare specialized olive grove with 3,000 trees, which means an average production of 35 hectoliters of extra virgin olive oil.

Among the extra virgin oils produced by Giacomo Grassi, all monocultivar, we propose the Maurino, really excellent. From Castel Ruggero we recommend the excellent extra virgin olive oil Ruggente DOP Chianti Classico.

Classico.
