Vallepicciola: three grand crus are born

Tradition and modernity are embodied in the Chianti winery's three new crus: a white from Chardonnay, a pure Sangiovese and a Bordeaux blend.
105 hectares of vineyards, divided into 12 zones for 7 grape varieties, are lost in the Chianti Classico territory as far as the eye can see. They have become the oenological challenge of Alessandro Cellai, who in Vallepicciola tells his vision of wine with important numbers, in about half a million bottles, where all the beauty of Tuscany can be found.
The winery, founded by Bruno Bolfo and his sister Giuseppina in 1999, was born after the acquisition of a former nunnery, later converted into a luxury hotel, and following with the amalgamation of the Val di Picciola property with 80 hectares of vineyards, with a modern and functional six-thousand-square-meter winery, perfectly integrated into the Castelnuovo Berardenga territory, built by architect Margherita Gozzi, according to sustainable criteria that take advantage of gravity and rainwater recovery.
Three new wines raise the winery's quality bar, three wines from the "Grandi Cru" line: Vallepicciola 2021 Toscana Chardonnay 100%, Vallepicciola 2020 Toscana Sangiovese 100% and Migliorè 2019 Toscana Rosso that combine terroir, quality and contemporaneity. International grapes accompany Sangiovese, which tells the identity of Tuscany. Structure and elegance are the characteristics of the three wines that conquer for rigor and quality and that manifest, through the sip, the peculiarities of the soils positioned at various altitudes reaching 450 meters, clay matrix with traces of marl and alberese, which give structure and concentration, but also a lot of freshness.
Vallepicciola's Grandi Cru, with a limited-run production, are the result of experience, territory and vines, but above all they manifest the style of a winery with high production potential.
