The headquarters of Tenuta Sarno 1860 is in Irpinia, in the old hamlet of Candida at an altitude of 600m above sea level, and it produces authentic mountain wines.

Villa Sarno, with its park of over 2,000 varieties of trees and flowers from all over the world, is a private museum with artistic treasures open to the public by appointment. It is also the home of the Sarno family and has a winery in a location that is out-of-this-world, to say the least. Maura Sarno has been making wine since 2004, exclusively from Fiano grapes cultivated on the small Candida hill at an altitude of 630m that has a southeast exposure and benefits from sharp diurnal temperature variations. The Fiano – produced as both a still and sparkling wine – is made following few and essential procedures, such as fermentation and maturation in stainless steel, the use of cultured native yeasts from the vineyard the grapes came from and aging long in the bottle. A wealth of aromas, an expressive cleanliness and characteristics of the varietal and the territory are the recognizable traits of the Fiano di Avellino from Tenuta Sarno 1860, which since 2017 has produced a cru Ere, which matures for 18 months and is included in our Essential Guide to Italian Wines 2020.

Tenuta Sarno produces wines that can age long and thus patience is needed for the wines to mature and express themselves. If you have not done so already, go and visit the winery: the beauty of the location will surprise you and the timeless charm of Maura Sarno’s parlor, which acts as a tasting room, will astound.
