The Trentino winery famous for Trentodocs entrusts artist Paolo Tait with the image of still wines.

Hit the mark-or rather "by the mark." That of Paolo Tait who signs the new labels of Moser's Warth line. The production is named after the Trentino farm where the winery and part of the vineyards are based. The label, with those decisive, no-nonsense strokes capable of telling an artisan story of toil and matter, also gives voice to a territory with a long history behind it. This content-rich image simultaneously conveys a contemporary and pop spirit.

The Moser family entrusted the creation of no less than seven labels to Paolo Tait, a painter and sculptor from Trentino who has been personally linked to the family for years. Almost an "uncle" who has been able to listen and thus learn the essence of the company and its production.

The line includes Gewürztraminer, Riesling Renano, Moscato Giallo, Müller Thurgau, Lagrein, Teroldego in the cooler version and then Rubro, which is more aged and designed with a view to greater longevity. All wines between Trentino Doc and Vigneti delle Dolomiti Igt.

The Moser winery, dating back to 1979, also bears a famous name due to the sporting exploits of one of its founders. To this day it is well known for its Trentodoc wines, classic method sparkling wines from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. A production that currently has three different labels, with some new ones on the way (SPOILER). Trentodocs with a clean, vertical and sharp style, of great drinkability and savory thrust. The production of sparkling wines has somehow cannibalized, and been allowed to do so, the production of still wines, which, however, from a production point of view, has never been neglected. Today, in a new guise, the time has come to push the production of still wines as well, equally representative and with a decidedly older history than the much-loved mountain bubbles.

The Moser family has its roots in the Cembra Valley; founded by the brothers Diego and Francesco today sees their sons, respectively Matteo, winemaker, and Carlo, who is dedicated more to commercial and managerial aspects. A conduction therefore still family to still male; celebrating the slopes, the native vines but not only, the temperature ranges of the mountain territories and especially the altitude. Heroic by definition, the vineyards are divided between Trentino pergola and Guyot training forms.

The Trentino pergola in turn has been adapted according to the characteristics of the terrain; it is not always open to the valley, as the rule dictates, but sometimes goes along with the slope due to wind direction and force. Guyot has several advantages, but it is no less in the demand for attention, especially, again, in canopy management and water supply.

Among the varieties grown, predominance of white berries and much importance to two wines in particular, Yellow Muscat, the dry version, and Rhine Riesling, for which the winemaker has an unabashed preference. Yellow Muscat, a variety that has unfortunately had to make way over the years for other varieties more attractive to the market, retains that touch of nostalgia for the past that inevitably generates fondness on the part of the Moser family. Today it is offered as an aperitif wine, that wine for which no particular reason is needed to uncork a bottle. Perfumed and easy-drinking, savory on the palate, it is truly a cuddle and in the glass it ends up immediately. A different story altogether is that of the Rhine Riesling whose challenge is to last as long as possible in the bottle. And it succeeds, being by nature rich in aromatic precursors, in particular TDN, the molecule responsible for its typical kerosene odor that over the years continues to be released making the wine always recognizable on the one hand and on the other helping to mask oxidative deviations given by aging [cf. Il Respiro del Vino, Luigi Moio]. This wine also receives a lot of attention in the cellar, from Matteo, which help to make it technically clean, faultless, varietal and ready to age over time.

Another variety, this time red, that Moser is focusing on, so much so that he is presenting it in two versions, is Teroldego. Red and indigenous, Moser grows it in the hilly area, Sorni, bordering the better-known and doc Piana Rotaliana. The simpler version with an everyday character is a wine vinified in steel and aged in used barriques for 7-8 months; and Rubro, a sort of Riserva, which ages in 50% new barriques for two years. Born with the 2018 vintage, available now, for the first time.
