The evolution of Kellerei Kaltern
The Caldaro Winery has been an operating cooperative in Alto Adige since 1906. It currently has over 400 members who together have 300 hectares of vineyards rooted in a stony, mineral soil. Although their plots may be Lilliputian, members have a great love for tradition as well as a deep-rooted and dynamic social spirit that results in top-quality wines which are strongly influenced by the lake the vineyards reflect upon.
Enologist Andrea Moser arrived at the winery with the 2014 harvest and initiated an evolution aimed at better exploiting the already enormous qualities of the local vineyards. This resulted in Kunst.Stuck, the first vintage of which, 2014, had a preview presentation in Rome at the Atelier Calabresi in Campo di Fiori. Its name translates as both ‘evolution’ and ‘work of art’. The label was inspired by Lake Caldaro and is itself a work of art, designed by Alto Adige architect Claudio Paternoster.
