The agile Cascina Montagnola’s Timorasso

The Timorasso Colli Tortonesi Morasso 2013 Cascina Montagnola is a pleasant discoverythat helps us understand why this white indigenous grape from Piedmont is getting more and more success.
Donatella Giannotti and her husband’s great adventure began in 1988 when they fell in love with a semi-abandoned farm estate. Cascina Montagnola is located in the Colli Tortonesi hills, between Oltrepò and Appennino Ligure, and extends for a total of 18 hectares, of which 12 are vineyards, six are crop land and one an orchard while a park surrounds the main building.
Their first official vintage was 1997 with the first and very limited edition of Barbera, Rodeo, made from a vineyard that dated back to the 1950s, the only hectare the farm had at the time. Nowadays the production includes other wines such as the very good Timorasso that we present.
This is a small estate with a promising future.
