Elegance from a bygone age

There are some estates that unexplainably get ‘forgotten’ despite the quality of their wines. Sometimes this happened because they are not ‘pushy’ enough to make their name known or because they get lazy or fall into a rut, resting on the laurels of their place in winemaking history. A case in point is Tenute Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari, a name that anyone acquainted with Italian wine knows. The Folonari family, in fact, created and brought to international attention the Ruffino brand. Then, some 20 years later, the brothers went their separate ways with Ambrogio and his son Giovanni striking out on their own maintaining, among other holdings, Tenuta di Nozzzole in Chianti Classico.
The following wine is from this estate. Il Pareto is not an estate Chianti Classico or even a Riserva La Forra but a Super Tuscan, a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is named after the vineyard its grapes come from, a cru, as the French would say which may have a low yield but that produces great grapes
