Abbazia di Novacella, among the best of Alto Adige
The ancient Abbazia di Novacella is a great winery, dedicated to the production of the typical wines of Valle Isarco among which the Sylvaner Praepositus.
For years now this has been a top producer both in Alto Adige and Italy. Director Urban Von Klebesberg and enologist Celestino Lucin are without a doubt the driving force behind the success of this winery that belongs to the Order of St. Augustine and is located in the Novacella Abbey that dates back to 1142 and which alone is worth a visit.
The wines produced are the classic ones of Valle Isarco: Sylvaner, Kerner, Veltliner and Riesling, along with some interesting Pinot Grigio and, among the reds, Lagrein and Pinot Nero.
