This was very convincing, partly as a result of a rather good vintage. It has a very intense and quite concentrated ruby colour. Its nose is appealing and particularly spicy, with the classic well-defined sour cherry notes against a background of blood oranges and tobacco. The flavour is forthright, with fruit that is very well-structured and especially tight and dynamic, with dense yet gentle tannins and a good level of alcohol that holds any excesses in check. Serve it at 18°C with tagliatelle with Bolognaise sauce, lamb’s offal or spicy salamis and sausages.
