Marco de Bartoli began producing a DOC Marsala in 1984, a wine that was aged with the fortified alcohol, although the cooked must never played a heavy role. The bouquet has a splendid citrusy note of candied tangerine and the typical musty or ‘rancio’ note (from the French ransiò which refers to a host of characteristic aromas, ed.note) which is enhanced by ferrous notes and those of incense, without a doubt deriving from excellent prime materials, while time has given the wine nuances and depth as well as the land’s DNA.
