Mystery bottle. I had this bottle since it was released. Vinnae 2004 is the first vintage that Jermann, one of the greatest Italian producers, decided to release this wine - dedicated to his son Michele - with a screw cap. Despite the Italian trend that considers the screw cap a closure for cheap wines, Silvio thinks that it is the best closure to preserve his wines and he started bottling his varietal wines in screw cap, so far 60% of the whole production has a screw cap closure (today even the Crus are bottled with screw cap, but mainly for the export market where the demand is higher). The wine has spent 10 years bottled with a screw cap.
Vinnae 2004 shows a brilliant golden colour, the nose is developed, smells of mature pineapple, ripe yellow plum and a hint of camomile and almond. The palate has a good structure, even if a bit thin, good balance, fresh acidity and a quite long almondy finish. For a 10 year old white wine it almost gives the impression that the screw cap has preserved the wine for a couple of more years.
