Villa Gresti 2007

From the wonderful estate of Borghetto Avio comes this excellent red wine made mostly from Merlot grapes with a small addition of Carmenere. Its intense ruby color with darker veins towards the edge introduces a bouquet of delicate scents of currant, blueberry and nicely ripe cherry. There is also a light note of graphite, a smoky accent and a balsamic one that complete the distinct and intense aroma. The flavor is excellent, nicely mature and complex without any of the blinking traits of Merlot but with a nice freshness and excellently settled tannins. Savory and tasty, the finish is incredibly consistent with the aroma.
