Vigna Savuco 2009

This is made from only Magliocco Dolce grapes picked from a single vineyard. The grapes ripen long on the vines after which they are fermented in steel and the wine aged in French wood barriques and in the bottle. The color is a lovely dark, ruby-garnet while the bouquet is rich and complex, a combination of sour cherry and blackberry jam, hints of cinnamon, vanilla, licorice and leather with a distinct balsamic imprint. The flavor is full-bodied and a bit rotund, with a soft and non-drying tannin and a long and fresh finish of ripe fruit.
