Vigna “Rionda Dieci X Anni” 1999

The color is a bright garnet color while the bouquet is spicy, dark, fresh, licorice, flashy, a tad short on fruit for a 1999. The aroma is iridescent (a sign of virility) compared to a taste that is gaudy, savory and again a little short on fruit. The vigor, freshness and above all compactness are outstanding. This is Serralunga's more sober and 'monastic' side. It is severe, perhaps a bit rigid, austere in the true sense of the word. This has another ten years ahead of it and could even get better.
