This has not received the appreciation it deserves for what it has represented in the history of Barolo. The grapes selected in 1971 perhaps produced their best wine in the past 50 years and it is outstanding for the qualities it can express. The color is a very clear red with nuances that are still lively, while the aroma is didactic for the way it recalls wilted rose and cacao before shifting towards pipe tobacco, porcinelli mushrooms and dried leaves. The mouthfeel is vigorous and still has distinct tannins. A Serralunga wine to the bone.
