Vigna del Melograno 2011

Made with only Troia grapes the vines of which grow in a chalky soil with no use of any chemical additives at an altitude of some 25om above sea level. The wine ages for eight months in oak barrels, another eight months in glass-lined cement vats and then six months in the bottle. It has a dark red color with bright reflections and a bouquet of ripe fruit dominated by prune and cherry. The flavor has notes of vanilla, chocolate, tobacco, resin and black pepper, while the mouthfeel has excellent tannins for a wine with rich body, structure and balance along with pleasing sensations of licorice and nutmeg, a long persistence and an aftertaste of red berries and fruit.
