Vigna del Generale 2009

The color is an intense, bright ruby that is a little more evolved on the edge. The aroma is warm without being alcoholic, for the most part fruity (currant, peach, prune), the attack is broad and slightly alcoholic. The tannins are robust at the center of the mouth but in the finish they toe the line becoming pleasingly bitterish without drying out. The earthy nature of typical Romagnolo Sangiovese scents (earth, leather) come out only after adequate breathing. It still needs a couple of years.
