A very balanced year in the vineyard producing a wine that is immediately convincing. It is fresh and dark to both the eye and nose (cherry, leather, peat, cinchona), the attack is balanced, robust to the palate with fresh and thick tannins, incisive yet never dry. A wine with a compact personality, full and long-life, perhaps not yet at its peak. Together with the 2001, this best demonstrates the shadowy and tannic character of a Predappio Sangiovese.
