This is a classic Predappio: shadowy fruit, secondary scents of earth and cinchona/bitter orange, a slight mineral touch (peat), nice weight, thick tannins, large and robust but not dry and long, with more substance and warmth than juice. The most complete vintage. Alessandro told us proudly: ''a few years ago, during a blind tasting of Sangiovese 2001 organized at the La Frasca restaurant, it beat a lot of Tuscan wines that cost four times as much''. We had no problems believing him.
