Vigna ai Sassi Vernaccia di San Gimignano Docg Riserva 2009

As always this comes out after the others and this wine demonstrates how the decision was spot-on. The color is a straw-yellow with bold nuances and reflections that are still green, while the aroma is decidedly articulated and engaging. The fruit component is quite present with classic scents of white peach and prunes that compliment those of wild flowers and saffron on a slightly smoky background. The flavor has the rare boldness of a good year thanks to a wonderful acidity this is still lively and gives some agility to a weighty extractive mass. The progression is excellent and holds up right through the finish that has remarkable compactness and strength.
