Vernaccia Carato 2002

A great wine despite the barrique, sorry but I could not resist taking a dig at those who consider the use of wood as a tool of torture for whites. This wine may be an exception but it exists and it is fantastic. The bouquet is very complex with scents of hazelnut and white chocolate. It beauty is its strength still present in the fruity streak of grapefruit, lychees as well as an intriguing floral scent. Its taste displays a great richness never nauseating thanks to an excellent acidity that upholds and accompanies the wine's progression right up through a finish of rare complexity and persistence.
