Verdicchio di Matelica 2007

It has been our experience that the Verdicchio di Matelica does not suffer in hot years, even if 2007 was very dry as well as very hot. The color is very fresh, but the focalization to the nose is not exactly great. Grains, honey, (a few) candied citrus fruits, salt, flint/sulfur. The attack is broad like the 2008 but almost as incisive as the 2010, honey and malt to the palate, also citrus, the finish was quite incisive. It shows its age, perhaps even more so, but it is very good and does not suffer from oxidation. We don't know how long it will be good for but there is no need to wait any further.
