In our view the best vintage in the first decade of the 2000s for both Jesi and Matelica and which produces wines we have great memories of. The color is very (too much) retarded for its age. The doubt that it may be 'fossilized' vanishes immediately. The nose is fresh, very delicate, very young (no chestnut honey, no licorice, no grains) but 'lively': anise, pistachio, green banana, lime, citrus and metal. The attack is biting, 'citrus salt' to the palate, with an exceptional contrast and focalization. The finish is excellent, succulent, very vibrant and very fragrant. It may not have the taste articulation of a Bucci Riser, nor the 'hips' of a San Michele di Bonce (two Jesi we like very much) but this is a wine of outstanding energy. Granitic against oxidation. It will get better. Good until 2024 (and if you have some well-preserved magnums...)
