The color is an unusual, bright and robust red while the aromas are ethereal and non-aggressive. The complex bouquet varies between scents of ripe, red fruit and notes of blond tobacco and freshly ground black pepper. The mouthfeel is elegant and austere with an uncommon expressive force and vigorous yet well-integrated tannins in a context of rare perfection. The balsamic after-aroma is formidable. This vintage spent 16 years aging in barrels but this is not even minimally noticeable and the wine is one of the most balanced I have ever tasted.
