Tenute del Cabreo La Pietra 2008

Made from 100% Chardonnay grapes and fermented and matured for one year in 500-litre Allier oak tonneaux, it is very different from the woody white that went by this name only a few years ago. It has a deep straw yellow colour and lightly mineral aromas, with delicately smoky notes and hints of yellow plums and fresh pineapple. It is forthright and brackish on the palate, with acidity that is well integrated with the sweetish glycerine that sustains the fruit and renders this wine silky and well-balanced. The finish is long and fresh.
