A blend of 40% Grenache Blanc, 30% Roussanne, 20% Clairette and 10% Bourboulenc with each varietal cultivated in a different area. There was a meticulous selection of the grapes to be pressed and all were from vines that were an average of 50 years old. The wine matured for eight months in French-oak barrels and was slightly filtered before bottling.
The color is an intense canary-yellow with bright reflections that is still very lively, intact and not at all opaque. The bouquet is an explosion of ripe, white fruit, smoky notes and scents of orange blossom, wisteria and ginger. The mouthfeel is very bold, almost dense and warm (14.5% alcohol) but nicely upheld by a freshness I would not have imagined. In fact, I remembered it having an almost burning acidity and so time obviously did the trick. The persistence is great for a wine that could be defined as Mediterranean and this was certainly not by chance. (The latest vintage available is 2017).
