This was the first vintage of Sori made by the great Angelo Gaja. It has a distinct red color with bold garnet reflections that make the wine look is as impressive as are its organoleptic properties. The bouquet is fruity making it unnatural because bottle aging has not yet shifted the aroma more towards the classic and intense tarry and balsamic notes common to an aged Nebbiolo. The mouthfeel is anything but docile and, in fact, the tannins are quite masculine and counterbalanced by a distinct sweetness.
