San Sisto 2008

I believe that it was this wine that convinced Chiara Gianotti that a change was needed and, frankly, I think she was right. It is an anachronistic wine, hypertrophic, and the wood is exaggerated. The numbers in its analysis are shocking: over 23 for the extracts, alcoholic content 13.8 while the acidity was stalled at 5 and, perhaps, this was the problem. It also may have been that the bottle was a bit off. The aroma is dominated by yellow fruit with yellow peach and medicinal herbs, even dried ones. The mouthfeel is undoubtedly bold, almost exaggerated, but the wine is difficult to drink because there is too much texture. It wasn’t bad but it wasn’t that good either.
