This vintage was influenced by a late harvest that took place in October because July and August had been so dry. The yield was very low which meant that while the sugar was very concentrated, the acidity was a little low and this, together with aging in wood, produced an opulent wine. The color is bright yellow and in the aroma there is a bold fruit component with yellow peach and bladder cherry followed by gorse and yellow wild flowers, with a strange balsamic accent and spices from the wood that are not too invasive. The mouthfeel is oddly nervous with its freshness somewhat isolated despite the extracts. As always the persistence was good but softened by some camphor in the finish. A colored wine that resembles one of Botero’s models
