For sure this was the best of the ‘old’ lot, with a better contribution from the barriques making it more sober and ‘smoky’. Its intense golden-yellow color is still bright, while the fruit in the aroma was very intact with scents of yellow peach, ripe medlar and gooseberry. This with a masterful balsamic note of camphor and honey, upheld by yellow orange. The mouthfeel has a bold impact with sweet notes of honey that are held in check by the wine’s pungent and acidity streak. The progression is lovely and still nervous with an intense finish that corresponds with the aroma.
