A Syrah matured in large barrels, this wine has an opaque purple color with a violet edge. After an initial and brief reduction, the bouquet opens with an impressive fragrance of must and roasted raspberry and the aroma is not only that of the varietal but also of the Rhone with it sensations of smoke and black pepper. The mouthfeel lacks a tad of body even for a Saint Joseph wine and this may be due to the year. The tannins are diffused and very subtle and there is black pepper on the palate while the aftertaste is of ash and cloves. Overall, this almost has the salinity of a white wine and a purity that makes the wine almost irresistible to drink. A delight. Imported to Italy by Meteri.
