An assemblage of Premier and Grand Cru grapes (including from Aÿ and Verzenay) composed of 72% Pinot Noir and 28% Chardonnay of which 7% is Pinot Noir red wine from the celebrated Côte aux Enfants vineyard. The wine is made in wood according to the Bollinger style and disgorged with a dosage of 6g/l after sitting for ten years on the lees The color is a salmon pink with copper reflection while the bouquet has notes of mandarin orange and kumquat, oriental spice, hibiscus tea, rhubarb and currant juice that then veers towards deeper sensations of toasted barley and humus. The mouthfeel is wrapping and flavorful with a citrus streak that makes the relaxing wild berries pleasing and almost jammy but never heavy. Although the coy vivacity of its young style may lack persistence, Rosé 2006 is a decidedly voracious Champagne, with a vinosity that allows it to accompany a full meal, thanks also to a lower than usual dosage.
