Here the Sangiovese is blended with some Canaiolo and perhaps some other native varieties but no white grapes, despite the regulations of the time. The wine aged in large chestnut barrels and in part in cement. It is more of an emblem than something to drink even it is still drinkable. The color is a pale yet still lively garnet with orange reflections and the bouquet includes umami (the famous fifth Japanese taste), humus and licorice but there are also still some fruity hints. The mouthfeel is very fresh, fine, elegant and even creamy and still has the sweetness of the fruit. A magnificent autumn.
