Made with the best Grand Cru Chardonnay grapes selected from the 65 hectares the Maison owns, this is the rarest and most expensive Champagne in the whole Perrier-Jouët line of production. The harvest was an abundant one but will be remembered for being one of the best for Champagne. The winter frosts did not compromise the yield and, in fact, protected the slow ripening that began during a cool June and continued through a relatively warm and fair summer to September. The bouquet has notes of white melon and kumquat, frangipane and hawthorn flowers, almond paste and white chocolate with a hint of oyster and saffron. This winning complexity amplifies with breathing. The mouthfeel is lithe and lively with a concentrated salinity, where notes of crunchy apple and linden honey chase each other in a complete and harmonious lively dynamic. The wrapping finish has a joyous and juicy persistence of pineapple and gingerbread, with an aftertaste if iodine many minutes later.
