The vintage is considered one of the best of the new millennium with a cold and cloudy spring followed by a sunny summer and rains that delayed the harvest until the hot sun of late August and early September. The classic Belle Époque blend (50% Grand Cru Chardonnay, 45% Pinot Noir and 5% Pinot Meunier) had a dosage of 8g/l creating a fascinating balance in a vintage the potential of which was already evident. The bouquet has intense aromas of grated green apple, jasmine and clementine green tea, notes of iodine and rich fruit sensations of yellow plum and white peach. The mouthfeel is meaty with the richness of acacia honey in constant balance with the tension of lime. The finish is deep and very long with an aftertaste of iodine, toasted almonds and nuances of dried mint.
