A blend of 54.2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41.7% Merlot and 4.1% Petit Verdot that matures in barriques, 20% of which are new wood. This wine is unjustly little known in Italy and this excellent 2015 vintage was a surprise, at least for me. The grapes are from the youngest vines and those not used for the Forts. There is more Merlot in the bend than what is standard for Latour and this Pauillac plays on its fragrance and the impressive precision of its aroma with notes of currant, strawberry and cedar. The mouthfeel reflects the terroir with still tannins and a little graphite in the finish. The estate suggests waiting a couple of years before opening this vintage but I think it is already wonderful.
