Elio and Marina Grasso, with their son Gianluca, are a lovely wine-making family from the Langhe and have vineyards in the cru of Gavarini and Ginestra, among the best in Monforte. Their Vigna Chiniera 2008 is a Barolo in the traditional style, with a bright garnet color and a clear and elegant bouquet of currant, wild strawberry and a touch of chocolate. The taste is firm, with thick yet soft tannins, almost salty notes that make the balance taut and give it a youthful taste profile.
