Montevetrano 1999

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot with 30% Aglianico. This winemaking masterpiece is one of the greatest Italian Bordeaux blends (even if there is also some Aglianico). This is a fantastic vintage and the wine is still very young yet it already offers profound pleasure. It has a strong red color with luminous tones while the bouquet is marked by suffused balsamic scents, a Rive Droite meatiness and fine spice as well as an irresistible gaminess. The tannins are fine, assorted and nicely rounded and the finish is very long.

 This vintage is by now impossible to find except at an auction.
